Smyrna, 1922

I can't sleep, thinking about Smyrna, about the suffering of the its people tortured and killed and the sudden end of a world that seemed to be made to last forever. All those modern buildings in what is now called Izmir are just monuments to one the greatest hypocrisies of humankind.
